I feel like your comment captured exactly how I feel, and why. Shifting into a new reg set (and all the pain/drama/adjustments that come with it) is part of F1 - an important part! But the computer control has been devastating and sucked so much of the human element out of the sport. Itโs hard to watch, and most of the drivers seem to be frustrated with the whole thing.
F2 thoughโฆ youโve inspired me to try following their season now, too! I havenโt watched before (so little time!) but I think this season may warrant a little change. Who knows, maybe our family F1 weekends will become slightly-rarer family F2 weekends instead!
F2 is great. Remember there is a sprint race every Saturday and then the Feature Race on Sunday. I mostly skip qualifying (time is not infinite).
In my opinion Tsolov is the standout driver of the season. Dunne is great and very fast, but can be reckless and can cause incidents. He has cleaned up a little this season though, but has historically been cinema for better or (often) worse. Caused a huge pile-up in Monaco last year. Camara is the reigning F3 champion and is very fast, but you could question his racecraft. He's very quick in clean air, though. Gabriel Mini is also good and very consistent, although I think his peak potential is a little lower than the others mentioned.
That's your crash course for the season, enjoy!
