For sure, but it boosts Cuba's humanitrian cred internationally which is better in the long run that a single septeginarian getting his comeuppance
Similar to the CPC sparing and rehabilitating Puyi, even though he deserved death for his collaboration with the Japanese among many other crimes
the value of proving the humanatrian nature of the party/state/ideology is simply of greater value than the catharsis of just punishment on an individual
(some may argue the deterrence is of greater value but studies show that the severity of punishment has no bearing on the choice to commit a crime)
You're right. The revolutionaries who actually carried out a revolution and built socialism knew better. I'm glad there are level headed people like that and yourself who can think rationally and make the right call.
