Early last week, I was at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library for its first weekend. At the library itself, despite President Donald Trump inserting himself incongruously into the opening ceremonies, I did not see a single person sporting a Trump-branded clothing item.

The town of Medora, North Dakota, itself was, however, a different story. It wasn’t overwhelming. But for someone who lives in an urban center of a blue state, where even in the ruby red rural areas most people have become sufficiently shamed to shut up about their MAGA tendencies, a single errant MAGA cap is a rarity.

And the people who did go out and vote, who are trying to fix it, can fuck themselves too then, right?

No, they can now start to prepare for a national shutdown and to vote again if they get a chance. Perhaps organise more to vote.

It’s sad for them, but the position is the same…it’s a collective responsibility.

Whatever, it’s theirs to sort out, not ours. We heard for years how this would never happen because of a few reasons including a second amendment we were repeatedly reminded of, that we knew was piss and wind.

I still don't know where you're seeing anyone saying this isn't American's responsibility to fix, much less anyone saying any country is at fault except maybe Russia.

Believe me, no American thinks Australia is at fault for Trump and definitely don't think you've got the ability to do anything like that.

I had someone two days ago somewhere around here blame our PM for not sanctioning the US. Saw that line quite often in reddit, particularly the politics sub, the StopProject2025 sub had a few of them as well. Same deal; it was our responsibility now to sanction or cut ties with the US because…they held a democratic election and the one they didn’t want was voted in. We tried that explanation as well. That’s just one place, I saw the same things on a couple of the others.

Another beauty I saw on the IWantOut etc subs were Americans urging our countries to accept asylum based on…yeah, what? It was a democratic election.

Those on those subs and elsewhere were told, if they voted him in, there was nothing we could do.

Personally? If I had my way, I’d take the defenceless, disabled, trans, minority…anyone who really can’t stand and fight, but that’s always been my position with migration…asylum and refugees first. The able bodied and able minded, I’d like to see stay at home and fight for or rebuild something.
