possibly, but i think the "mayans were right" and the world ended in 2012, and what we're experiencing since then is actually the last, infinitely extenuated scream of the universe. from the inside, it looks like an infinite amount of increasingly incoherent nonsense, from the outside it's less than a blink of an eye.
tbf to the Mayans, 2012 was just the end of a long count cycle and marking the fact that we're officially outliving the world that was created before the current one. So maybe the deities forgot to show up to pull the plug this time and instead we get to see the stage in the world lifecycle that convinced them that the last one needed to go.
