Yeah, at this point clickbait thumbnails are unfortunately almost a necessity for survival on these platforms. This is by no means a good thing, and it didn't have to be this way, the algorithm was deliberately designed to be this way, but it is what it is and we have to deal with it.

Yup, I find lately I've just been running videos through a transcriber I made and reading the summaries unless there's something really big happening where I want to get more details. https://git.sr.ht/~yogthos/transcribe-yt

Makes sense, that's a much more efficient use of time. And i personally find i internalize information better when i am reading it rather than just hearing it. Everyone has their own learning style that works best for them.

yeah I prefer reading as well, and I've also noticed that a lot of the time there's just not that much new interesting info so podcasts will just keep repeating stuff you already know, and then have a bit of actual news here and there
