Donald is absolutely smitten with Zohran! I can't believe what I'm watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptzw8efnogo

Yeah who tf knows but my personal belief rn is it's an intentional ploy to destroy mamdani's support, he doesn't globalize the intifada so he's hated by the left, then Trump "likes him" so he's hated by liberals, boom no more support for any otherwise popular policies Mamdani might try to do and no re election. It's what I'd do if I were trump and trying to fuck up an upstart socialist who seemed to be gaining popularity

The only downside is it might get Trump loving ignorant voters to like Mamdani (doubtful since he's not white) and gain support for actual socialist policy

Trump knows which way the wind is blowing and that his popularity is at an all time low. That combined with the fact that he just love a handsome, powerful man that is a winner. Zohran kept on message and Trump couldn't help but glaze him. Win for Z today but who knows what it means long term.

I don't think it's actually a win for mamdani to be publicly seen as liked by trump unless trump actually does something for mamdani

[–] deforestgump@hexbear.net 14 points 3 months ago

I think it’s a win in the sense that he got Trump to publicly endorse his views (whether through stupidity or not) and didn’t have to ceed any ground. But we live in a post Harambe world so is anything possible.

Mamdani wasn’t elected to be liked. He was elected to lower prices. He ought to be worried about that.

I'm saying that being visibly endorsed by trump is a poison that would make liberals actively work against him because of the superficial level of political awareness and engagement in american society, that has literally nothing to do with what mamdani was elected for, at all. Like, I'm sayhing that dumb fuck liberals in NYC governance might work against shit like "lowering prices" just because they are pavlovian dogs conditioned to bark ORANGE MAN BAD

I don't know how the fuck you people are reading whatever I'm saying as, but it's wrong, and I'm aghast at this upvote ratio here, like how hard is it to get that a very large portion of the country will kneejerk react into "mamdani bad" if they see Trump actively defend, support, smile at, like him, waht the fuck ever, like, has anyone present in this thread been present in American politics for the last like, eight or more years? do you people not know how bluemaga functions?

the only part of that where I think I might be wrong is in saying it's anything intentional on Trump's part (or anyone in his circle of advisors who could guide his demented ass into glazing mamdani as a tactical nuke against him)

[–] SmokinStalin@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

Mamdani already overcame bluemaga to get elected over Cuomo in the first place.

I do think Trump could be attempting what youre saying, but I dont think it'll actually be as effective he imagines.

how do you read what I'msaying and interpret mamdani wanting to be liked as having literally anything to do with it, at all

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

an intentional ploy to destroy mamdani's support, he doesn't globalize the intifada so he's hated by the left, then Trump "likes him" so he's hated by liberals, boom no more support for any otherwise popular policies Mamdani might try to do and no re election

I didn’t say that Mamdani himself wants to be liked, although he is a human and that’s to be expected. I’m saying that his job is not to maintain his popularity, but to deliver on his promised platform and therefore stay popular.
