Is bdsm frowned upon? I thought with stuff like 50 Shades of Gray that it was fairly mainstream now.

all the freaks i know hate 50 shades because it doesn't accurately depict the scene and copying it will/has gotten a bunch of people injured because they don't know better

Yeah, if anything 50 shades has made the scene a lot worse, because there are a lot of guys who want to be a Dom, but don't want to actually put in the effort of caring about a Sub, they mistake role play for an actual full time relationship, and expect a small and meek obedient partner 24/7. It's at the point where if I see a guy who says they are into BDSM as a Dom, I'm going to assume they are just an abusive asshole looking for a weak victim who won't fight back.
