Eeep. Made myself a cup of tea this morning, but the cup was full of floating ants. Checked the sugar - nothing. Checked the tea leaves - nothing. Emptied out the kettle and it was FULL of ants looking for water. Who knew this was a thing until now? Not me. So now I'm emptying the kettle after each use and leaving it upside down between uses.

kettle and it was FULL of ants

New fear unlocked.

They are the teensy tiny black ones - that look like grains of sand until they start to move ....

My sister had ants in her Nespresso machine. They cleaned the machine out twice and still had more ants in it. They ended up throwing it out and buying a new one. At least a kettle doesn't have any hidden internal workings for them to be hiding it so you should be confident the next cup will be ant free.

ants are not great here but there is nothing for them other than cat food and water and that gets checked everyday

I once found an ant trail going into the bathroom vanity. They were swarming all over the mouthwash bottle?! I guess there were drips on the outside that attracted them.
