A little bit of dry cat biscuits are apparently OK for maggies if not repeated too often. Feeding them - they recognize people's faces as individuals so getting friendly is a good thing imo. Prevents swooping.
Also, once the stawm hits, today is not going to be a good foraging day for the maggies, so a bit of extra food will cement a friendly relationship with no swooping.
Magpies generally eat small animals and insects, so giving a little bit of dry cat food or a bit of meat is good and builds friendship.
My nan and Opa have been friends with a Magpie couple and they have seen a number of chicks hatch on their backyard. Maggie's will come right up to their backdoor and eat out of their hands lol
My local maggies hatched 3 chicks this year - and the bubs are still yelling at parents to feed them, and still have fluffy feathers poking out here and there. I don't mind helping harassed parents a bit.
