You might want to look into Asahi Linux, it’s pretty cool! It runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs and it seems to work reasonably well for such a small project. I’ve never used it myself though, so ymmv.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look into it. Although I've never used any Linux device before so I hope this one is good for total newbies like me.

It's "here be the monsters" territory running it on newer chips than M2 due to reverse engineered drivers.
