I've read some defences of it, but I'm not a biologist/geneticist so don't really know. I tend not to trust ideological reimaginings of scientific topics, like that one Trot cult guy that claims to have debunked the big bang theory with dialectical materialism. Of course capitalist science, as everything, should be examined critically, but just because someone's well-read in philosophy (or is a Trot that claims to be lmao) doesn't mean they know shit about biology or genetics.

Epigenetics might give it some ground, and there might be records of Lysenkoist practices actually improving yields (I haven't investigated this claim).

But my only real takeaway from it at this point is Lysenkoism or a rejection of western geneticism is pretty understandable for its time (even if it was ultimately incorrect) given the latter's close ties with eugenics and racism, something Western academia has tried to whitewash. I mean fuck, genetic determinists are still widespread and nonsense like The Bell Curve are still touted as truth by some, so the field could definitely use some radical criticism by someone well-versed in the science of it.
