Guys, The Halfway Post is a satire website. "America's #1 source for Dada news". Lotta people eating the onion in this comment section.

Satire is dead. It couldn't keep up with reality.

"Ceci n'est pas un onion"

Mate, have you read the news in the last months, with special attention to the first days of this year? I understand it's satire and it's not real, but right now, people are having a really hard time to distinguish satire from real news.

One of the biggest reasons why everything sucks right now is the prevelance of misinformation online. This isn't even trying to be misinformation, it took me literally five seconds to confirm that this is from a satire website, and yet when I posted it every other comment was engaging with this as though it were factual reporting.

I know everything sucks right now, but we can't start freely accepting lies as truth just because we're tired. If we do that, we lose completely.

My comment was more on the funny side tho. We live in a timeline so ludicrous that satire is having a hard time because the rapist always find a way to one-up them.

Especially when, sadly, we all know DHS will 100% get a Federal judge or SCOTUS to make this LEO-only OK and let them shoot anyone they want driving, walking, or looking towards them.

Jury nullification is still a thing.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah but unfortunately you can’t nullify a bullet out of your head.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

lol, as if they'd ever let this go to a jury.

Yeah. The rest of them will make sure you won't be able to attend a trial.

That's because a lot of people are fucking pissed and in absence of any action by our governments and institutions in place to protect us are on the verge of taking matters into their own hands.

It reveals itself as satire when it assumed US citizens would actively fight the fascists. They are way too lethargic and complacent to ever do anything of the sort.
