Boyo and I nearly had our first fight because I was keen as hell to make a pasta bake which he was gungho about until I let him know it had mushrooms in it. I still made the dish, he had toasties for dinner. The pasta bake ruled, his loss, not gonna hold it against him no matter how much he protests "I swear I just wasn't hungry!" (somehow you decided that 4 hours before dinner, 10 minutes after I let you know about the mushrooms. I don't care, dude, I still had what I wanted)
He shoulda pulled the fucking mushrooms out and left them for his partner like a normal person.
miss seagoon has some food can't eats and won't eats
I don't cook the can't eats and always discuss ingredients
I want eating to be a happy thing
If I like something other people can't or won't have I make that for a lunch for myself . No drama and I don't miss out.
Boyo hates salmon but occasionally I'm like SALMON IS LIFE and we make it work. This is a communication issue with a 30 second delay.
I can't eat oily fish and can barely eat white fish, I cook a lot of fish because Mr Seagoon absolutely loves fish. It's such an easy thing to do.
anyway, with pasta bakes if there are different likes just use small gratin bowls and make different ones, leaving out mushies or what ever in some of them. It takes nearly no effort.
Mushrooms are tricky. For me the flavour is fine but the texture vile. Sometimes eating around them works, others it doesn't.
You warned, he declined. Don't weaponise them.
Worse comes to worst, I have another 4 servings of a meal I found delicious and he made himself his dinner so I don't mind!

he couldn't pick the mushies out?
Nope. And I get it, which is why I prewarned him because if he'd seen/smelt them... IDK, I guess I wish he'd just tried the dish. But I also understand why he didn't and am glad I still had it because it was so delicious. Thank you again, Nagi!
