I got the anxieties about starting work next week. I'm trying to reframe it as "excitement", focus on the paycheck, work my wage, it will be gooooooood. I'm fine!

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

yup, think of the rewards ๐Ÿ˜ธ

Prepare to be mega exhausted for a few weeks while you adjust. It will get better โ˜บ๏ธ

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

Oh yeah for sure, I'm just gonna take it easy during the adjustment period!

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Try and refame it. Its not anxiety, its your body's ignition sequence for something you've never done before or haven't for a while.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

That is w good way to reframe it! It's just creating adrenaline in preparation!

Boyo and I nearly had our first fight because I was keen as hell to make a pasta bake which he was gungho about until I let him know it had mushrooms in it. I still made the dish, he had toasties for dinner. The pasta bake ruled, his loss, not gonna hold it against him no matter how much he protests "I swear I just wasn't hungry!" (somehow you decided that 4 hours before dinner, 10 minutes after I let you know about the mushrooms. I don't care, dude, I still had what I wanted)

Ouch! LittleOne was lying on my chest when the auto feeder triggered. Springbok feet to the throat. Thanks shithead

Oof! Mickey loves to sleep on my chest and then suddenly launch off my boobs at mach 5. It's a unique sort of love but I take what I can get from the apex predator with a Napoleon complex ๐Ÿ˜‚

Looks like my request for clarification of responsibilities worked!

I have leads to follow and quoting to do!

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

Nothing better than actually knowing what you're supposed to be doing at work

[โ€“] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

Running to the library to print things, and Iโ€™m remembering why I donโ€™t run

[โ€“] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago

Urgh, car wants my money. Rear main seal and brake master cylinder. Probably do the clutch while the gearbox is off too. It's like half the value of the car.

Lawyer consulted. I do believe a DIY solution will be taken. Fee schedule is absurd.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If you are well organised and patient many legal tasks can be DIY.

No one has noticed my fashion faux pas of black trousers with a blue shirt. Do I keep working here because I can get away with such crimes, or do I move on because I can't possibly work with animals such as these?

Keep working there because they noticed, but they're polite ๐Ÿ˜‰

Went for a walk. Perfect walking temperature and a nice breeze.

Geez. The great ocean road hogged all the rain and we got none. I donโ€™t think the outcome is good for either party.

the egg nishner guy is here

hope it all gets fixed in time for the next heatwave or even cold snap

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

What is your ideal weather pattern?

Mine is a nice sunny 23ยฐc day with a weekly 30ยฐc day to dry the sheets quickly, all year round. The occasional balmy night for drinks outside. Strictly no pollen or harmful UV rays.

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

10 degC overnight. Daytime 20 degC up to 25 degC. Fine during the day, any rain coming at night. Occasional hot day to 30 degC for laundry purposes. Wind - not bothered except that hot northerly winds should be VERBOTEN!

Sunny days above 20 degrees, not too close to 30 degrees, and not too much wind. Overnight low between 10 to 15 degrees for comfortable sleeping. This year round with occasionally balmier / beach days (around 30 degrees), and occasional rainy days for moodier times and for the gardens.

21 and sunny, slight breeze. Night 10-12 degrees

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

I like just mild weather, even slightly cool. Sun is nice but I canโ€™t handle too much

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

I like random and weather that can be challenging at times. Reminds me I am human, reminds me of the power of nature.

You may not need another charger but look into the Ugreen Uno range of chargers/powerbanks/cables. They have screens on them to give them little robot eyes and the charger looks like a robot wearing headphones. It even comes with a magnetic prong cover that makes it look like it has shoes

The Ugreen charger has arrived. It has been named Bernie after the robot from Wall-e due to its mild resemblance and we need to explain to the kids it doesn't made sounds or actually do anything.

It's also smaller than I expected but it makes sense, it is a charger after all

I talked so much at work today I have a sore throat. Accidentally lay down on the bed when I got home and now I am stuck.....must...make....dinner....

Whatโ€™s up with cashiers in coffee shops not listening when they ask for my order?

I wait for them to ask, I announce it loudly and clearly. They interrupt. I confirm. I go on to item two. They confirm. I confirm.

Then, they apologise and try to guess item one again. They get it wrong. I correct them. Theyโ€™ve got it.

Oh yeah, what was item two? Yes, thatโ€™s right.

Also, whatโ€™s the deal with not waiting even for a split second between me saying โ€œflat whiteโ€ and โ€œwith two sugarsโ€?

I understand that coffee shops are loud and hectic, and I might have to repeat myself once in a while, but damn Melbourne, every time?

I know I said this recently but... Man, Arrested Development (talking about the group here, but the show is good too) is still so good. Same vibes, grooves, 90s feel - new albums sound fresh though somehow... Also reminded me of that 8tracks mixtape app. So I went to reinstall, and it's gone....it was so good...

Looked it up, and....Citing difficulties with funding and maintaining royalty payments, 8tracks ceased its services on 31 December 2019.[5] However, on 19 April 2020, 8tracks was relaunched under the new ownership and operation of BackBeat Inc. As of December 2024, the service is inactive.

I'm disappointed.

Edit - groove just hit peak level...

2 minutes into this track. The fade out is just sublime. Have a listen https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=fqTDh1kvOi4

What's for lunch? I'm thinking about the chicken salad from a cafe nearby!

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

I sauteed some broad beans with butter and spices, mixed in leftover chicken burgers (chopped up), and threw some veggies in.

Looks like shite, but tastes great.
