I'm at a show and more than seventy percent of the crowd is mid thirties or older. I normally just go to metal concerts and they have a much more even age distribution.

As an old punk, the kids are showing up but holy shit are they too much in the pit. I'm happy enough to take the odd elbow or get knocked around, but there were 15 of them just all out with roundhouse kicks and windmill fists. The safety mechanism of the pit is the fact that you're all bunched up so it's hard to fall over and easy to pick people up. If you're creating a 6 square meter exclusion zone for people who don't want to take your platform boot to the jaw, you are a hazard.

I hate that shit. Friendly pits are one of the most cathartic things on earth don't fucking ruin them on purpose.
