A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

There are almost zero Americans that are protein deficient. Yet people here freak out about vegetarians and vegans like they're going to die of lack of protein while ignoring common vegan protein sources.
You could cut about half of the meat from old food group suggestions, including the Michele Obama one (which was more healthy and reasonable), and still be getting more than enough protein.
God these people are so anti-science and so fucking dumb. Men all desperately trying to look like roided out freaks.
I'm no vegan or vegetarian, but I've been eating way less meat and more veggies lately since I found a really delicious veggie stew recipe. I've made it weekly for meal prep almost 4 weeks in a row now. There are many days recently where I go without eating meat at all. I just got some blood work back from my yearly physical and I had too much protein in my blood.
I actually get more protein from the veggie stew than I was getting with my old diet.
You can't just say that and not share the veggie stew recipe.

Thank you!
I'm commenting in hope that vegan stew recipe drops and I get a notification.
Added the recipe as a reply to my original message.
You are a good person, thank you very much.
I'm going to enjoy that recipe responsibly.
For those that wanted the recipe:
In a large pot on medium high heat, add olive oil, onions, celery, mushrooms. Saute until softened.
Pour in veggie broth, lemon juice, and spices. Mix well.
Pour in the rest of the veggies and kidney beans. Mix well.
Pour in fire roasted tomatoes on top. DO NOT MIX, and do not dispose of the can.
Fill the can from the fire roasted tomatoes with water and pour into pot. Do not stir.
Cover the pot with a lid, lower heat to medium, and simmer for between 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Optional - add in tomato paste and stir well.
Add additional spices or salt to taste.
Serve with noodles. I prefer those small middle rings.
Only a hero would go to such lengths
Americans lack fiber, the protein bushit has gotten out of hand
Adding to what you said, I'll just drop this here.
Thanks for the link. I'm personally not even vegan and only what I call "half-vegetarian." I was pushing for full vegetarian until I was diagnosed with cancer which actually does require increased protein intake. I just think it's dumb to ignore reality that the majority of US citizens are far from hurting for protein and that there are plenty of healthy vegan protein options from nuts to tofu to seitan and more.
the very first reference in that list is an outdated position by the and. it expired five years ago. it's likely some of those other links also rely on this now expired position.
I wouldn't take everything there at face value. you will need to actually click and read every link critically.
do you have to disclose your Burger King affiliate status?
Hey, if you remember, the last time you whined about this, I appended the most recent 2025 position to the bottom of the list – just to soothe your oh-so-good-faith concern that the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics might've decided between 2016 and now that "actually, modern medical research is bullshit and plant-based dieting is unhealthy".
no, it's not. it used to be.
your strawman is bad faith
do you have the little cardboard crown on now?
Well said
This got sexist fast.
