January 27th, 2026

  • Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm Boar
  • Razor: Trident Shaving Varukh
  • Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp (3)
  • Lather: Mike's Natural Soaps - Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper - Soap
  • Post Shave: Stirling - Cypress - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Southern Witchcrafts - Valley of Ashes - EdP

Close two pass non-complementary non-dickhole shave. Pretty good!

I'm still not crazy about slants. It feels a bit to me like overcomplicating something that's already sufficient and simple enough. I guess the point is blade rigidity? I'm not sure I buy it.

Bias alert: I'm in love with slants.

My neck hair grows straight up and against my skin. Slant razors are particularly good at getting those bastards, comfortably. In my mind, the slicing cut is key. But you know YMMV, etc.

Yeah, they might just not be a good fit for me. They’re certainly very efficient, but I don’t find they provide me with any benefit over my other DE/SE razors.
