Yes, you can be "subthreshold" but you could also be unconsciously masking.
When I was wondering about myself and thinking about seeking a diagnosis I thought about what I wanted out of it. It made sense for me to pursue one. Turns out I'm way more autistic than I thought lol
Self diagnosis is valid as fuck, and so is just recognizing traits that cause friction in your life and addressing how to exist with those traits in this hellscape. You don't need a diagnosis self or not to do that.
Really, good to hear affirmation of that :)
It really is crazy. I thought I was cis straight het neurotypical. And then through a thorough assessment with a professional adhd, ocd, bipolar, and ptsd are thrown at me, as well as realising I'm nb and panromantic. 😅
Do you recommend any self-diagnosis tests? The tests I've tried linked via the resources link of this community that test for autism more directly, I usually score really low on, and I have a lot of issues with the way they test. Like "Are you feeling depressed sometimes", "tends to be lazy", "can be tense".
I don't know if I would call this a recommendation but I think this is a pretty commonly used website: https://embrace-autism.com/autism-tests/
I think I was pretty confident that I was autistic when autistic people irl started saying I was one of them 😅
