If it's any consolation I was once at a party where an attractive acquaintance is invited me to do body shots. She made out with me when I went to get the lemon out of her mouth and all I could think was "wow! How sweet of my friend to help me this much with getting the lemon into my mouth. She must think I was having a hard time of grabbing it."

That is painful and I relate. I see you have no pronouns listed but this story certainly brings to mind memes about certain dating scenes being stymied for wont of waiting for one party to make a move... except in this case it sounds like your friend knew what she was about and our hero (you) wasn't ready to pick up on it. Like I said, relatable.
