Sexism violates our instance principles, I know you're a regular here so please edit your comment (being Australian is not a excuse here).
Who are you asking? Do you have an opinion of your own? Is there any chance at all you have something to say about the interview you're ostensibly discussing?
speaking of what are your opinions on this link you put forward. What did you think about it when you watched it? Why is it worth a watch?
What are you talking about? What video?
This thread is focused on the interview as WRITTEN in the article posted.
Are you calling out OP for not watching a video? Did you read the article interview yourself?
Get a grip, man...
Nope. Im calling out links and media that somone drops with no context. Its a pet peeve of mine. One of my bigger asks is a way to filter out content that does not have a written body and I generally avoid discourse myself with them as the OP did not start any discourse to begin with. The OP's response to the comment annoys me as its suggesting they feel they did not read and its like hey if you want to make a comment like that why don't you actually explaine why you dropped a link in to begin with. Its like getting pamphlets pushed in your face as you walk down the street. Ironically its what got me to comment against my general rule of not engaging if the op does not start some with their post.
The "context" is in the headline. That tells you all that you should need to know to determine whether you want to read the article.
The fact that you seem to want someone to do that work for you and tell you what to think (divorcing whatever gets highlighted from its full context in the interview in the process) is frankly disappointing.
Getting mad at link aggregation software for aggregating links is a real choice.
See I don't view this as link aggregation software. I view it as discourse software. I get annoyed because I can't filter it out like I would like to, so I end up clicking on things I otherwise would not. I don't appreciate it anymore than a friend shoving a magazine in my face rather than prefacing a bit with he found an interesting article and would I like to read it. No the headlines don't provide the context which is why would a real human want to read some article.
Great. Read the interview, and if there's any aspect of it you feel you need to add thoughts to, go ahead and do it. And if you don't have anything to add, (a) that doesn't mean it's not worth sharing, and (b) you can just bypass the thread entirely.
It's not on OPs to tell people what aspects of an article to talk about, and in many cases, I would argue that it's not appropriate to try.
You can't possibly think that someone posting something online is analogous to approaching you and shoving something in your face. Please tell me you can tell the difference.
yeah. as I have mentioned. I avoid commenting as much as I can with these things. if I can filter them out then I won't make the mistake of engaging when its more an advertisement than a person. The only reason I did here was I was annoyed at the OP's reaction to the comment I was then replying to. Oh but I certainly do feel like its just pushing things in your face. Its a trek community. you read an article. geek out about it. tell me why you liked it. why is it so good to share. etc.
Maybe try Tildes, it's more suited to your discourse requirements

Nah if I went anywhere it would be trust cafe but I do really like the federated model and the direction its going is so far in the right direction.
Lemmy is essentially the reddit clone in the fedivers. It is just as much a link aggregator as reddit ever was
if you want to see changes in the software, be the change you want to see. Write the code or fund a dev to do it for you
reddit isn't a link aggregator either. Its a community space just like here. Heck main reason I got on reddit initially was some mmo's I was playing at the time.
It's not a video, but thanks for playing.
ok so I take it not worth it but thanks for trying.
DS9! remember DS9?? It’s the one you all say is the good one after the other one that’s best and we also did a take on, now remember DS9 and check out how this show is more DS9! Did I mention DS9???
Keeping in mind DS9 itself opened on a direct TNG tie in, sprinkled TNG villains through the first season, then brought back every Klingon captain from TOS, and finally just went all in and edited everyone into a TOS episode so Dax could swoon over Spock’s eyes and Sisko could sneak Kirk’s autograph…
Every Trek show since the original has referenced the others like this. I think it’s good fun.
And TNG has appearances from several TOS cast members reprising their original roles; Deforest Kelly, James Doohan, Mark Leonard and Leonard Nimoy.
Trials and Tribble-ations is a masterwork. Star Trek's penchant to self reference can make great things. But it can also make episodes like many of the Enterprise ones.
They also just introduced one of the main characters of TNG in season 4, even referencing a TNG movie. It is wild to assume Star Trek was never self-referential lol
Voyager referenced or included TOS and TNG characters in at least eight episodes of season 3.
That's basically a third of the season, assuming I didn't forget any. And that's not even counting things like the mention of Wolf 359 in "Unity" or the koon-ut-kal-if-fee in "Blood Fever".
And that's from the show that went out of their way to make it hard to use existing concepts.
That’s right, I completely forgot about Worf, and also the O’Briens!
How could you forget about Keiko! Lol
