Makes sense :)
I was actually planning to promote the community around, I can include a note about you looking for more moderators?
I was impressed by the size of the Australian team during the opening ceremony 😄 From what I hear, a number of Australians visit Canada during the ski / snowboard season. I figured that's where the popularity for those sports comes from in an otherwise warm country?
I know a bunch of people who go to Japan regularly for skiing/snowboarding. It's a fairly popular sport with Australians, but generally at a much lower level of seriousness than we're likely to take summer sports.
And of course, Steven Bradbury is an absolute legend for his 2002 Olympic Gold in speed skating.
Yea I can imagine! Still, I was impressed by the size of the Australian team during the opening ceremonies and the country has been doing pretty well at the medals so far :)
Yeah, this is already Australia's best performance at the Winter Olympics so far, with 3 golds. Passing our previous best, 2010's 2 golds.
Yeah feel free to do that.
I'd probably want any new mods to either be people who are already mods elsewhere, but primarily on smaller more niche communities (rather than centralising power into a few "power mods"), or who have engaged a bunch with this community in the past.
Sorry I didn't get to posting about the moderators. There was a promotion post in !communitypromo@lemmy.ca around when I made this, and then I didn't get around to posting it elsewhere.
