never stops being funny to me that this is such an issue and also that that issue has been solved by the charming janktastrophe: Deadly Premonition
Not to take anything away from Deadly Premonition (the ๐) but that was only in one cutscene. The same technique has been used in Sims games since 2004 though
Like you don't need physics, just have a big flat mesh that goes over the character model
