Not being super familiar with Chomsky because I never cared for him, but IS he even a leftist? Afaik his thing is about non-materialist individualism, which seems suspiciously neolib. In the modern post-neoliberal context, I think we can mostly all agree that individualism and socialism are in direct conflict, despite the economic liberation of socialism being required for individual economic freedom. In the feudal stage of capitalism we have returned to since the 90's I would argue Chomsky, based on my limited knowledge, is actually a center-right neoliberal figure in the mold of a Habermas.
