The Green candidate won over 40% of the vote. Reform UK came in second place with over 28%. New Labour only got third place with around 25% of the vote, which is about half of what they got for this parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections (i.e. a massive drop in support).

by-election

I never googled that. I've always assumed it's what we (Americans) would call a special election. Are they basically the same thing?

Edit

Despite myself - I googled by-election vs special election. The results were such shit - I went to page 2. I checked a site and now I'm a bit confused.

Yep. It's the same thing.

Google is such shit now. A lot of search engines are, and AI isn't helping 😕

A vs B used to be golden. I shouldn't be surprised that it's broken. But c'mon - google - can't at least one thing work?

Ninja edit. Now that I'm thinking about it - the 2nd page result site I went to might have been AI infected crap.
