Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I used to think he had been a decent president. But after his term ended and new information came out it became clear that he was always onboard with genocide in Gaza. The nickname Genocide Joe will never die. Zionist asshole.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago

Ok, but can we also promote Genocide Trump? Because I haven't heard many people point out how zionist Trump is. This conversation always focuses on one over the other, despite them both being in on it.

There were signs before he was president, he was the biggest recipient of donations from pro Israeli groups during his 36 years in the senate. He consistently voted with the war hawks. Biden always was a genocidal shitbag.

You're right, of course.

It's funny how leftists will criticize people who agree with them because they didn't come to that conclusion within a convenient time frame.

I didn't find out that Biden had always been a Zionist until fairly recently. He was quite vocal about it when he was a senator, apparently. Was I supposed to research political activity that happened before I was born?

[–] Delilah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

When someone is running for president, you should probably research their history

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 hours ago

Ideally you wouldn't have to because the media reported on it. If you had reliable media.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I didn't vote for him in the primary, though. And I wasn't about to vote for Trump. I should've researched an old candidate's 50 year history in politics to justify voting against Donald Fucking Trump?

[–] Delilah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You should research the position of anyone who is a viable candidate, regardless of how truly awful the opposition is. I'm not saying anyone should have changed their vote to the mildly sentient blob of hamburger grease who rapes children for fun, just that everyone should know the political positions and history of the potential leaders of their country.

...why? It's a two party system. You're suggesting I should justify voting against Donald Fucking Trump, the child rapist? There was no other option. I was supposed to go through a 50 year political career to find some bad shit? And then what, get mad at some old CSPAN clips and then vote for the kid raper? You're not being realistic.

Who did you vote for?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 13 hours ago

Oh buddy, turn back now.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a monoparty system with the illusion of choice, like Unilever markets several brands of laundry detergent and ice cream. You could have voted third and made a better choice. Unless you were in a swing state, you could have voted De La Cruz or Stein, for example, without supporting the beast.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Stein? She's a Russian agent, meant to take votes away from democratic candidates. I thought this was common knowledge. How is third party a better choice when the Republican candidate is literally a fascist? Voting third party supports "the beast" and we had no idea Biden would be such a catastrophe for Gaza, and we had no idea that October 7th was going to happen.

I chose the most pragmatic option.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 0 points 1 day ago

Who told you that and why do you believe it?
