- This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.

That particular base has been (and possibly still is) used as a staging area by the US air force.
The UK does not allow the US to use it for offensive missions. I agree with you that Iran has every right to fight back, but if you hit me in the face and i hit your brother that is not 'fighting back'. Iran is horizontally expanding the war because that strategy is most in their favour (at least according to them). A British military base could be seen as a legitimate target, but that does not mean Cyprus cannot be angry about it. Missiles and drones do not always succesfully hit their target and innocent people were (and probably still are) in danger. I find it very understandable that Cyprus does not like this, but to repeat my initial point: the whole reason Iran targets a place like this is so other countries (e.g. Cyprus) pressure the US into halting their campaign. This is why i'm saying they shouldn't voice their anger too publicly. Aside from what rights Iran does or does not have, and aside from how legal the attack from Israel and the US is; Iran considers us (the Europeans including Cyprus and the US) their enemy. We should not allow Iran to abuse out internal disagreements.
That's hair splitting though, because a whole lot of US aircraft have moved through that base in preparation for the attack. And they have been seen, pictures have been all over the internet. Logistics to support the war are also going through European US bases, and (especially military) logistics of an opponent are a legitimate target, too.
And the US halting their reckless war would be a bad thing exactly why?
The US, at least with its current government, considers Europe as an enemy, too, and is actively working on overthrowing European cooperation by supporting anti-Euroopean political forces in a lot of European countries, and is waging a trade war on Europe. (Quite likely on behalf of Russia, another declared enemy of Europe, currently engaged in a war of imperialist conquest on European soil)
Disagreements with the US aren't "internal". I'm not saying Europe should go "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", but it needs to urgently detach itself from the US. If that comes with the added benefit of not painting giant targets all over the European countryside thanks to US military presence and the US starting reckless wars in Europe's back yard, that's a good thing.
I agree, i meant internal between 'neutral' European countries, like the UK and Cyprus. We should not stand with the US.
