Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Because he’s a republican sleeper.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

He’s got that enlarged amygdala look and vibe for sure.

The left thought he was one of us because he talks shit about Trump and wears a hoodie. The fact that’s all it took should be enough for deep reevaluation of who we’re choosing to represent us.

[–] hammertime@lemmy.org -1 points 13 hours ago

Mamdani is the same. People said he was a socialist and he didn’t argue because he wanted votes. Then he raids homeless camps and slashes library funding.

Humans are idiots

It's horribe what brain damage can do to people and their personality.

[–] hammertime@lemmy.org 2 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

He didn’t change, he was always that way.

[–] zergtoshi@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Well, maybe he's always had some brain damage?

[–] hammertime@lemmy.org 1 points 13 hours ago

Well, that’s probable.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 24 points 1 day ago (5 children)

He wasn't a sleeper, this is who he has always been. But since he had that D next to his name Democrats had no problem putting him into office. They overlooked everything just so it would be their team in place

It's funny to me. I know an older guy (early 60s) from PA who's a lefty, very liberal. I remember him being so happy when Fetterman got elected. He said he was ecstatic he had a senator he thought he could share a beer with. He's incredibly disappointed in him now. Just today he said how he would gladly vote for Newsom if he's the nominee in '28. We're so cooked.

They never learn

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

Why does everyone wanna drink with these guys

[–] seang96@spgrn.com 19 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I mean his competition was the fraudulent Dr... Also prior to his stroke he was aligned more as a progressive. Strokes mess up the brain.

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

alleged stroke

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

He was trash before his stroke

[–] aproposnix@scribe.disroot.org -1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

This is a BS excuse of certain democrats who refuse to admit they screwed up.

[–] seang96@spgrn.com 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Even Bernie was supporting fetterman. If you think "Dr." Oz was better choice I got some fake pills to sell you.

[–] aproposnix@scribe.disroot.org -1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Lol. Bernie Sanders is not some God. Maybe if the Democratic party actually floated real candidates instead of APAIC troglodytes, people would have voted for someone else.

At any rate, his "brain damage" was not the issue. The issue was that the democrats got conned. And that's really not a big deal to be honest. We all make mistakes. But not owning it is so lame.

[–] seang96@spgrn.com 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I didn't say Bernie was a god. He's just one of the best we got. Dudes not a corporate sellout and has stood publicly with his beliefs instead of lying to get votes time and time again.

There should be reprucussions for lying / swapping parties if you don't do what you were voted to do, another vote should be held to fill in that party's representative for the rest of the term.

[–] aproposnix@scribe.disroot.org 3 points 16 hours ago

With regards to repercussions, I agree. It would be nice if there was a way to recall senators for blatantly lying to the public.

[–] svc@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 6 points 1 day ago

Follow-up: I found a sample ballot from fetterman's senate election. There wasn't really a stand-out candidate in that race. Richard Weiss seems to be the most moral, but not perfect. I can't fault the voters given their material conditions.

Never trust someone from York County

[–] svc@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

I'm not very familiar with that election. Who was the best candidate? Richard Weiss?
