Anything "mostly positive" or below is garbage
I'll buy a "mostly positive" game if it's a niche genre that I'm into and it's on sale. Otherwise, yeah, there's way too many "overwhelmingly positive" games out there to waste time on something with a 75% rating.
I think sometimes "mostly positive" can be okay if it's something really specific. Like "I know I love these types of games and this is a sequel to something I enjoyed." But I'll never randomly buy a "mostly positive" game. It's the mark of "pass unless you already know you'll love it."
On the flip side if I see something "overwhelmingly positive" and that looks at all interesting to me I add it to my wishlist and get it on sale. This has never once gone wrong for me.
Basically what I'm saying is Steam's review metrics are top tier. At least for me.
Some mostly positives (and even a couple mixed/negatives I can't recall right now) are actually good.
Usually they're more niche that attracted a wider audience (COD bro isn't going to like Workers and Resources; and thats ok) or something more artsy. Or it attracted
rage.
On the other hand, there's a few very/overwhelming positives that should be negative. Hogfarts was/is. Factorio's devs went on a weirdo screed and it stayed positive (me, a cishet, got called anti-trans slurs during that one lol). And lots of the porn slop is rated high.
Backloggd seems to reflect reality a bit better for gaming scores. Probably won't if it ever hits mainstream and people stop using the "3 is actually a fine score to give, not everything needs a 5 or a 1 star" method.
