DLSS framegen is an okay technology, one of the few generative AI technologies that I really don't mind. It's certainly used to lie about card performance, and it certainly is not good for competitive games, but it doesn't fuck up art direction other than some very subtle smearing effects. It's a good tool to have.
DLSS5 is a fucking joke. It takes two fucking 5090's! TWO! And this is a company that isn't planning on creating any sizeable quantity of consumer cards in the next few years.
There is however a way they could salvage this type of technology. They could have individual game devs create maximum quality images, in all the game's environments, maybe even better than what you could create in real time, and train the AI on a huge corpus of those images. That would fix the problem where everything looks like a fucking instagram photo, plus they wouldnt look like a DIFFERENT FUCKING PERSON FROM SHOT TO SHOT.
This would however get completely fucked up if they wanted to change the appearance of something at any point. That could actually be its own total disaster.
lmao!
I didn't know that, you're just telling me now. In that case I support this make-work program for nvidia engineers during these trying times.
What's real funny is DLSS was supposed to be a performance booster
Or we just go back to all games being low res pixel art platformers that are literally impossible to beat.
I've been playing gravity rider and trying to get my hover unicorn-rockinghorse around the abstract space racetrack without hitting any sea mines or giant swinging hammers. I don't have any capacity to appreciate boobies during such high stakes gaming.
Nobody is hot when theyre all glitched out
