That would just be a new occurrence of a known pattern: most hateful are mostly repressing themselves and infuriated by people who aren't.

This underlies the entire mindset that expresses itself as strongly right wing, religious, law and order, etc... They actually hate freedom because they are too repressed to exercise it themselves, so we get all of this.
