I saw this recipe on Insta for baking hot cross buns in something like a custard sauce, with milk / cream / butter / sugar / eggs and a few other things. I’m not sure if this is some Easter tradition I missed out on growing up but knew I had to make it. This is now my lunch.

Yes it's tradition. It's like bread and butter pudding using leftover/stale hot cross buns.
