saw a cutie at the beach today

It's Autumn and mushie time , I saw a mouse nibbling a mushie and then dash under cover , the mushie was covered in nibbles

I also found a watch , a very waterlogged cheapie, and a few nice deep purple scallop shells

Put in my application to volunteer at lost dogs home.

Fingers crossed.

Let me know if they’re as high risk for euthanasia as they’re painted out to be. I avoid surrendering cats to shelters after seeing some of that stuff

[–] bacon@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Sent a sick stray to the vet who then sent kitty to them. They were still taking care of her a few weeks after when I called to check.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

That’s good. Still concerned

Will do. I know they have a bad rep I just want to see how they look after the animals.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 points 4 hours ago

Lost dogs or Lort Smith? I did about seven months at Lort Smith.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Thought you disapproved of them?

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I want to see how they operate and also help

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 5 hours ago

Fair enough

I had the bright idea of using an antifungal pump spray on the cat’s legs as a quicker application (because he doesn’t stay still and pulls his legs away). It just scared him.

I’m feeling so stressed and trapped about the whole situation. The loss of Melbcat has severely destabilised me, I don’t know how to solve this, and my own treated lesion seems to be coming back. Ignoring the cat and not helping him is not an option. I’m just going in circles here.

I’ve contacted the rescuer again. Asking if I can get some oral medication for him. Explaining my difficulties with topical. And about being unable to get help from the vet or find his owners. Asking if I would be able to successfully treat him in the community or if I should surrender him to her organisation :(

I’m going to go put a found poster outside where I was told these alleged owners live, but it’s highly possible they could have moved or just don’t give a damn 🫩

Just do things the easy way. πŸ‘

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

The easy way is to do nothing (no) or surrender him to the kill shelter (no). Letting this continue means I stay on the ringworm hamster wheel and that is breaking me.

There’s no easy answer so I’m asking this lady if I can get some oral treatment for him or if I should surrender him to this rescue (which will skip the pound and take him to foster).

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

the easy answer is do what you need to/want to in the easiest way possible and don't fret

ringworm in humans is not such a difficult thing and it's not dangerous, just paint liquid daktarin a few times and it's gone, so don't fret, you'll be ok

I can’t help it. My brain has gone out of control in the worst way. And my immune system is really weak so it may not be able to beat it.

I put up a few posters near the spot. The lady is going to call me about getting him some tablets. I still have no idea what to do about him (and he’s started trying to kill the magpies)

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 4 hours ago

With some help from a psych you can learn to cope. hugs

My fruit & veg box has arrived for the month. I have lots of cauliflower (destined for soup) and a huge amount of grapes. The lettuce however was extremely tiny, which is probably a good thing as I still have more than expected left from last month - the change to cooler weather has slowed down my salad intake somewhat.

I saw this recipe on Insta for baking hot cross buns in something like a custard sauce, with milk / cream / butter / sugar / eggs and a few other things. I’m not sure if this is some Easter tradition I missed out on growing up but knew I had to make it. This is now my lunch.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 7 hours ago

That’s a twist on bread and butter pudding

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

Who has left over hot cross buns?

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

Ooh looks good!

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 9 hours ago

Yes it's tradition. It's like bread and butter pudding using leftover/stale hot cross buns.

Yours looks amazing!

My stomach rumbled in envy when I saw this photo lol

Almost all done w/ the downpipes.

Last steps is to flush it then put bicarb and cleaning vinegar down each one, wait over night then flush with hot water (going up ladders w/ hot water will probably win me the darwin award).

It rained a bit last night and the downpipe outside my bedroom was flowing very nicely so seemingly this whole wasn't a waste of time.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Bicarb and vinegar is better for a kitchen sink as you agitate the shit off the sides. You've already done that with the blaster.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Washing soda is better than bi carb and vinegar.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Hrmm seems so!..

might have to double down and do both.

One of the downpipes is a bastard so I'll put the washing soda in that first.

Thanks for the tip :)

introductions go well

(Kittens were coralled and Cerys made a graceful exit from the room and was fed crocodile bites for putting up with them for fifteen minutes)

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 10 hours ago

That's me when someone walks into my kitchen while I'm cooking.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 7 hours ago

Awww look at how calm and relaxed Cerys is πŸ˜‚

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Why do I offer to host knowing it'll throw me into an anxious mess? Thankfully it's only coffee for Boyo's sister and her partner, but I'm still like urg

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I freaked out a bit throwing the partay. Last time I did a little gathering like that was about 20 yrs ago, and we were all high after clubbing so it was easy lol.

How people manage the stress of hosting big ones is very much beyond me.

It was a lovely partay though. Nice & friendly.

Hosting an event is ALL about prep. Even to the point of drawing up a chart on a piece of paper. And dividing up tasks to be done on day minus x, day minus 1, day itself. Then the actual event is a LOT more relaxed. I thought you did really well for the partay.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

Seems in my peer group stress is remedied with coke basically lol

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

lol. Fancy.

No way I could've afforded that.

My blood was never blue enough for bougie speed lol

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 10 hours ago

early beach 😊

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If you've seen the Kodak Charmeras I just got some aliexpress knockoff versions. I'll find wherever sells the cheapest micro SD cards and that will give me something to do tomorrow. Do they still sell 4gb SD cards?

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I have a 256gb you can have if you give me somewhere to post it

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 8 hours ago

That's overkill for shitty little cameras that take 0.3mp photos. They'd probably crash loading all that space anyway

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 4 points 11 hours ago

I’ve had a lovely sleep in, and am about to commence beans on toast
