It's mostly true.
One woman did get paid leave for homosexuality because of its classification as an illness. So that's still pretty great. And there were people calling in to get off work for homosexuality, it just wasn't the main form of the protest.
It also only took a few dozen people showing up at the national board of health and welfare to remove the classification of homosexuality as an illness within 6 months.
