Not happy with the hyper capitalist dystopia of the 80's, capitalists wouldn't even let the dead rest in peace without a price. The next logical step is using AI to invade heaven/hell and privatize their services.

That’s an interesting interpretation. It also has a story about work and how working and being a worker in a capitalist world is dangerous. Not much monetary compensation for saving the city from the mega poltergeist.
