What are some of your favorite era-defining pics?

An easy pick for me but it captures the last decade so well. Lincoln looking at the noose/halo is what sends this one over from being just a funny picture into being genuine art. It should be in a gallery. It should be in the entryway to the White House.
Different era tbh. It's as far away from now as the 80s was to them.

one of the many ways we are similar. i only wish he could have been alive in the same era as me, but for obvious reasons that would be impossible.
the sad thing is that despite this being ages ago, and from a different era, maybe even a different zeitgeist, it still was definitive in shaping the current era.

The good thing is that those of us who were adults during Bush Jr's tenure can rightfully regard Trump & co. as the silly little clown show they really are. No amount of Democrat bleating about Trump being a horrific fascist about to murder everyone in the world is going to scare me. I lived through the era where the PNAC crowd had power. It's like a being cancer survivor listening to someone else whine about a sprained ankle. Trump and his friends are nowhere near as terrifying as Rumsfeld, Bolton, Cheney, etc. were in the 2000s.
