At least the doors open inside :)

[-] DocMcStuffin@lemmy.world 33 points 6 months ago

Pretty sure that violates at least one building code.

What country was this from?

[-] The_Picard_Maneuver@startrek.website 30 points 6 months ago

I found it under a post where people were talking about living in NYC.

[-] TheFriar@lemm.ee 9 points 6 months ago

It’s absolutely against nyc fire codes

[-] niktemadur@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Surely built before NYC had fire codes. In that case, do some buildings with "historical value" somehow get grandfathered in?

[-] Princeali311@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago

Yeah, at least in most cases. They get labeled as "legal non-conforming" and usually are required to become conforming in the event there is any major reconstruction done to fix a casualty event.

My first NYC apartment wasn't this tight, but it wasn't a shit ton different either.

[-] senkora@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 months ago

I’ve seen buildings like this in the West Village.

[-] lemmydoit@lemy.lol 32 points 6 months ago

Good luck, getting something like a couch in one of those apartments.

Just have to coordinate with your neighbor and open both doors!

Yeah.. it would be a nightmare. Maybe hauling stuff up to a balcony would work better.

[-] nieceandtows@programming.dev 7 points 6 months ago

You're not even getting grocery bags there

[-] bradboimler@startrek.website 4 points 6 months ago

Dang you beat me to the comment was thinking the same thing.

[-] LemmyBe@lemmy.world 23 points 6 months ago

At least reverse the doors so that it's easier to put keys in the locks.

[-] riodoro1@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

You seem to apply logic in a place where logic has never been applied

Depending on how the rooms are set up other side of the door. This maybe the best way to maximize pathing through the door. Swinging it other way round would put hinges and door in the way of moving..... You know furniture and stuff like a dresser or couch.or fridge.

This way its almost a straight shot through the door with minimal obstructions.

Also the photo looks distorted. Like fisheyed... perspective may be a bit off here.

[-] AnneBonny@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 months ago

The doors aren't the same height. Is one of the doors a non-standard size?

[-] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 9 points 6 months ago

There's nothing "standard" about any of this.

This looks like the ideal location for a traditional penis docking situation https://threewordphrase.com/mission.gif

Pizza's late dude. $5 off!

[-] andrewta@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

I’m trying to figure out if it’s photoshopped or a camera trick.

[-] TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz 11 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I imagine it's the interior of one of these

[-] andrewta@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Well played

[-] 000999@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 months ago

Looks like a Photoshop job though I could be wrong. The proportions and angles don't look real

[-] OurTragicUniverse@kbin.social 2 points 6 months ago

Floor doesn't look flat either.

[-] Eccitaze@yiffit.net 1 points 6 months ago

Looks like a badly warped panorama to me

[-] Nougat@kbin.social 4 points 6 months ago

Entrance to the Chocolate Factory.
