Just as with clergy, the biggest prudes railing against human sexuality are usually the ones doing the most fucked up shit. The above is all sex scandals, but note the party affiliations of the recent decades.

A significant cause of a lot of the world's problems because he and his administration crafted what has basically been American foreign policy since the 1980s, 9/11 notwithstanding.
It goes back further than that. Reagan's vice president served as director of the largest terrorist organization in the world from January 30th 1976 to January 20th 1977. But was approved for the role only after he pledged not to run for president. Running instead as vice president shortly after he left.
He and his running mate winning handily over Carter. Due to optics surrounding the Iran hostage crisis. And coincidence of coincidences, guess what day the hostages were released...... If you guessed Reagan's inauguration day you're a winner. Though of course Reagan/Bush had nothing to do with that. Of course. And it was just a coincidence when the Reagan administration immediately turned around to sell weapons to the country that had held American hostages. To circumvent a US embargo to supply terrorists in South America. Total innocent coincidence. Which is why George H W Bush then turned around to pardon all involved when he won the presidency he swore he wouldn't run for.
And George H W Bush wasn't an outlier or first generation evil shit heel. He was following in his daddy's footsteps. Ole Prescott Bush. Who is loosely implicated in the coup plot roughly 90 years before the January 6th one. This shit runs deep.
If you're an American subsisting economically, the President most responsible for your economic misery.
Also the one that converted his party's opposition, the former labor party, into today's corporate bribe taking neoliberals on the take just like Republicans, turning our political discourse into fights over social issues, which are exacerbated by our rigged economy we are never permitted a vote on. Do you want economic exploitation and lgbtq rights, or economic exploitation and no lgbtq rights?
The tiniest of silver linings though, in the rarest of circumstances for an American with great power and wealth, karma caught up to him in the end, and he died confused and afraid after witnessing his own mind betray him a memory at a time from the inside.

Our rigged market capitalist system found its stride in Reagan's deregulation and successful sale to the Citizens of the falsehood of "trickle down" supply side economics, and our oligarchs have been exporting it ever since in their need for infinite growth/metastasis.
It's an easy sell. A faustian bargain. You just need a few people in the right positions of power. "Hey, YOU can live larger. You can live like a modern pharoah. Just sell out your countrymen. Do you like yachts? How about yachts the size of cruise ships?"
We don't just bully the world militarily. We enforce our will through strong arm diplomacy and economic threats as well.
We work to turn governments from servants of their people into servants of the global capital markets. There are always people willing to betray their countrymen for a cut. Those people tend to be in powerful positions because of that ambition.
At this point the global oligarchs know no national loyalty. Capital is their nationality.
