Yeah, those dudes are gonna fuck.

Barely concealed homoerotic tension is one of my favorite old timey advertising tropes.

Are you familiar with old Soviet-Chinese propaganda posters?

[-] saltesc@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

I'm getting more a wife-swapping vibe...

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

They'll still maintain eye contact with each other.

because they are following proper beer consumption protocols, by pouring their ice cold Schlitz beer into a tall glass

And then Scarfy Mcgee is gonna pour is friend into a tall glass if you catch my drift.

The drift is homosexual sex.

1950’s. It’s literally right there in the bottom right. 50’s. Not 40s.

I appreciate the catch. I go through a lot of ads from that time period and it's sometimes hard to keep track.

lol I'm glad I'm not the only one that got big homo-erotic vibes from that ad. Even the women seem to only have eyes for one another.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

That is one handsome dude.

[-] ShaunaTheDead@kbin.social 4 points 8 months ago

In that old-timey radio voice

"Now fellas, we all know that one handsome devil neighbour of ours that we wish we could hold tight on a cold night instead of our nagging wives. Well, that's where Schlitz beer comes in! Schlitz beer - lower your hunky neighbours' inhibitions against your homoerotic advances!"

Buddy's just got a dozen glass beer bottles loose in a paper bag.

[-] jqubed@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

I wasn’t sure if they still make Schlitz, but it looks like they do, now from Pabst Blue Ribbon

[-] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 9 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

The previous company turbo fucked the recipe in the 70s. Its why it went from the #1 beer in the US to completly forgotten.

Looks like Pabst is claiming they brought back the 60's recipe. I dont think i believe them, honestly.

[-] jqubed@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

They forgot step two, bring back the original recipe as Schlitz Classic?
