Microsoft has stopped supporting WMR.

Please sign this petition to?open-source the software, so others can maintain it and prevent the perfectly good VR headsets becoming e-waste!

That's the Microsoft way... It's right on brand for them. You can trust Microsoft to drop a product or technology they've been cultivating for years about five seconds before it becomes popular and massively profitable for everyone else.

See also: The Zune, smartphones in general, AR/VR, smartwatches (yes, really -- and twice), etc.

Why is the Zune in this list? It's like the one time they tried to jump into something that someone else had already been doing extremely well and nobody wanted it (even if it did have full FM radio, pictures and video support when the iPod didn't). It doesn't really fit the pattern of the others except for quickly being abandoned.

luckily we have Monado which keeps the headsets working (better than ever in some cases!)
