Just curious how spread out we are. I'm up in West Yorkshire myself.

Edited to add: Hi /all! Please remember this is a UK-based community, just in case you're confused. But you are of course welcome. :)

(Please remember that anything you post on the Fediverse might stay on other instances forever, even if you delete it from yours. I'd recommend you not get any more specific than county or local authority level.)

Hahaha, reading through the comments, I was like, am I in a Brit-only sub.

New Mexistan here.

Edit: Ok, maybe I did end up somewhere I’m not supposed to be. Still don’t understand the Fediverse. 🤦🏻‍♀️

"Am I in a Brit-only sub?" - yes, welcome

[–] sideone@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

We're Brit-based not Brit-only 🙂

How on earth did you end up in !UKCasual? Not a criticism or anything, I'm just curious. :)

[–] sensibilidades@kbin.social 8 points 2 years ago

Usually people ask me how the hell I ended up in Wyoming, which is also a fair question. But, as 1st mentioned, you were on the front page.

Canada... This post appeared on my feed on kbin.social 🤷

I am addicted to UK panel shows and comedy though, so there's a connection?

I live in California, but I'm from Yorkshire.

There's a local shop where I can buy mushy peas or scones when necessary.

Germany, now living in South East England. Not a fan, to be honest with you. I'll have to stay a bit longer but I don't see a future here. Housing, cost of living, healthcare, blatant government corruption (or, as it's called here, "sleaze", I don't know why people aren't calling it out for what it is), an out-of-control Met, systematic neglect of reports of domestic violence and the regular news of women who had reported it, got ignored and then killed by their abusive partners... The list goes on. I really love this country, the countryside here is stunning (especially in the south in the summer), people are so friendly, I have really enjoyed living here, despite lockdowns and the questionable food. But it's just too much that's going wrong to stay here long-term, sadly

[–] sideone@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (4 children)

A lot of that seems to be a London problem rather than a UK problem, but we'll not discuss the P word here.

Ah yes, my favourite European country. They must be, they compete in the Eurovision after all. And usually with a better song than us. :)

Teesside-ish. Our counties got so messed up around here nobody is really quite sure which one anyone is in.

After living in several places I seem to have settled Manchester-ish. Far enough away to not be bothered by the city, close enough to commute if I have to.
