been thinking of re-watching SAC, especially to see how the politics hold up

I keep telling myself that I'll finally watch Innocence lol.

First season of SAC is pretty great. Second Gig has some good episodes, but the meta-plot has a kinda crap romance plot for the major. Solid State Society was pretty fun, but not really a must-watch.

so far it holds up well! some mildly janky bits of early 2000s digipaint and cg aside it's a gorgeous show, and the show seems very aware of how fucked up the cops are. only real issue politics-wise is that the individual cops we follow mostly have good intentions, but even within that they never really manage to do anything beyond kill or ruin the lives of people who sometimes deserve it and sometimes don't. very melancholy show

::: spoiler also the major is a transgender lesbian in that she is in a relationship with 2 women, and is shown to be VERY attached to her very fem presentation. when batou asks why she's in a smaller woman's body she punches him in the face and when we see her online avatar it looks identical to her robot body (which we know she could choose to look any way she wants) so we know she chose the way she looks and is very invested in the way she looks, while she really doesn't like talking about her life before she got her robot body as a child

She also uses a the-doohickey loaded in her robot arm that shoots coins

I've only seen the 1995 movie. Is Stand Alone Complex good?
