Fucking love the Nintendo 3DS. My favorite console of all time. Comfortable, fantastic games, great range of first party titles that implemented 3-D extremely well, and of course my favorite feature: StreetPass. My god I loved StreetPass. So much fun bringing it anywhere and getting that green flashing light telling you visitors arrived on your 3DS.

I played the hell out of the StreetPass mini games, and also enjoyed some of the implementations in various titles.

A Link Between Worlds probably takes the crown as my favorite game on 3DS. I also installed custom firmware on it, and when I’m not playing SteamDeck, I bust out the 3DS to play old roms. I have so much nostalgia with this portable, my spouse and I would play this all the time when we were dating too. I cherish the 3DS.

When Nintendo gets shit right, they really knock it out of the park.

10/10 - the Nintendo DS/3DS has enough games to keep you busy for life

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 year ago

9/10. Needs an absolutely unrepentant oversized bean bag chair.

[–] harmsy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't know. Laptop seems a bit small. I'd be having typos all the time with that setup.

OOC:

Treasure this moment. One of my best gaming memories was moving into a new place with a roommate after being homeless for two weeks. We didn't have furniture, we just had a frozen pizza, a six pack, and his switch with smash ultimate on it. We played on the half all night. It was a candle in the darkness, knowing that even without much we had a roof over our heads and each other. Just pure relief and joy.

Move in floor beers are the best.

Hell yeah.

I never experienced homelessness but I was lonely growing up. I remember meeting a new kid at school and and we played Earthbound until 3am on his SNES and fell asleep feeling like I was floating because I found a friend and a cool game.

That said It was also the day I saw Starship Troopers in theaters and saw boobs for the first time so that may have been contributory. All in all though banner day.

clean as heck

[–] thefrankring@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You might need a bean bag or sofa. The floor can be a bit uncomfortable.

Also a charging cable and an outlet to not run out of battery.

If you have an entire room for gaming you are killing it.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's what my HTC Vive gaming room looked like.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My current htc vive gaming setup is: in a box, on a dusty shelf.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I gave mine to my adult kid, and he loves it.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You need a couch and a few pee jars, and You'll be set.

That's the smallest computer I've ever seen. What OS does it run?

[–] zcd@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Bruh you need some rgb or smth

[–] all-knight-party@kbin.run 2 points 1 year ago

Yo, I have that exact color model of the old 3DS. The superior one

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Just have to ask, what's up with that outlet?

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The 3ds is plugged in, cable is just hard to see

Okay, from the picture it looked like the plate was missing or it had a landlord special paint job or something.

I'm designing a dining room cupboard/hutch and looking around the internet for pictures to draw from I started noticing details about them, like how I can give you a checklist of things that will be on them in pictures on the internet, and if there is an outlet visible in the shot it will somehow be negligently built/maintained.

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

The DSs charger is plugged into the top one, blocking the lower one

It IS quite high off the floor tho

Full marks, no notes.
