I find it very funny that the supposedly more human pic is in fact a fake.

Got to cancel out his uncanny valley face with an uncanny valley edit.

The Terminator (1) is criminally overlooked. Go watch it if you haven't seen it.

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 40 points 4 months ago

It's not so much overlooked, it's a classic.

it's more memorable and had insane scenes, and CGI that holds up to this day. i would argue it is deserved.

also people don't think about it but t800 turning out to be friendly was a great reveal (if you weren't spoiled by the trailer).

I like how half the people are saying T1 isn't overlooked (compared to T2), and the other half are saying T2 deservedly gets all the attention. And no one gets the irony.

[-] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

There is no irony. T1 is not overlooked. T2 gets more attention because it’s a better movie. We still acknowledge that T1 is a great movie.

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

i mean yeah, those are different people. i agree that t1 is underrated but that's what my comment was about: if t2 wasn't such a banger t1 would've been in a much better spot in our collective sci-fi memory.

I said overlooked, not underrated.

And the point is half the people say 'it's so obviously not overlooked!" and the other half say "it's obviously overlooked for good reasons!" And they can't see the other comment. The irony is palpable.

are you a professional hair splitter or do you do this as a hobby

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Lol I'm just pointing out the irony of people can't see half of the comments.

[-] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

As does t1.

[-] TheBat@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Deserved tbh

[-] jose1324@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago

Overlooked? Are you insane?

[-] Zier@fedia.io 19 points 4 months ago

I always thought he looks like Data from Star Trek, but got messed up in production. 3D printer error?

Yeah it’s crazy. They have some machine learning system that gives targets and partly they use autonomous drones that will just attack those targets. Some human approves or disapproves the targets but apparently this is just done so they can say that there’s a human layer and they spend like 20 seconds to decide if someone has to die or not.
