It’s amazing all those people know yet it still stays a secret.

What she should be asked is what authority is keeping the information hidden and yet allowed to be disseminated across so many people? What reason would it be best left a secret? What happens if it's aliens, and there is proof that the Maori defended the earth thousands of years ago?

What happens if Maori is the ancient alien that settled down?

Only until 2063 fortunately. Because that's the year.

Well then they're just going to have to be patient and wait.

Typical racist BS theory as a method to delegitimise the Treaty.

Somehow these clowns seem to think if they can prove Maori weren't the first here, thereforethe Treaty means nothing and can be scrapped.

Regardless of any prior inhabitants, Maori were already here when the Europeans arrived.

So ten years ago visiting I was told about this earlier race of redheaded people as archaeological theory based on incomplete evidence, but like something that was an active question. But now the story is very different and I guess the government has officially acknowledged that it was just a way to undermine the Maori treaties and reparations.

There’s already an Old Zealand. It’s an island in Denmark.

There's also the province of Zeeland in The Netherlands, which is where New Zealand got its name.

Shiet, we should all return our land to the great Hallucigenia, they're the one that's found across the world so technically they're here first.

We wernt - the Moriori were here before us. Common NZ knowledge.

Its also common knowledge we ate alot of them...

[-] Longpork3@lemmy.nz 13 points 2 months ago

Common misconception actually. Moriori are an offshoot of Māori, most likely Ngai Tahu, who arrived in Aotearoa during the same migration period as everyone else.
