I think the lesson to be learned here is that money can solve many problems, but it can’t complete you and therefore shouldn’t define you.
I would say they seek attention in different ways.
Elon has shown he can gather investors to sink money into a failed venture (twitter) and skirt the law when it benifits investors (Tesla)
while Trump has shown he can be the beacon of pure capitalism, letting businesses run things their way for quarterly profit and shareholder value with little regard to long term sustainably.
Donald Trump is a showbusiness star and real estate agent running for president, it's not like it wouldn't be a part of the gig for him, up until he stops being a president or presidential candidate. I actually didn't know who Donald Trump was until he began to run for president. Elon Musk is a different story.
If you hate it, you got it
The dude who caused a train crash for views ranks up there
Who did that?
They did, but he is omitting important information: The railroad company themselves did it, with empty trains.
Sorry I meant the old stuff, not the idiot from 2024 derailing trains.
Bullshit. Why on Earth would BNSF do that? They want to make money, not send some random teenager in Nebraska to jail
Sorry this is a mix of old and new. They did it a few times back in the day with steam locomotives on purpose.
The new stuff was an idiot risking lives of others.
What was the new one about?
See his comment here with a link. Crazy stuff.
I thought that was the old one.
No, that was in the 19th(?) century. See links in this comment here.
Oh, steam as in steam engines. I thought they were referring to the service called Steam.
Darn, Thomas had it hard.
That was surprisingly common in the days of steam...
Here is a famous incident

And here is a WTYPpod episode about it:
Criminal mischief? For derailing a train? What's next, arrests for "being rude" when demolishing the town hall?
