I will not unwrap gifts given to me by people who voted for a party that has talked about building internment camps and mass deportation

You’re going to have to be more specific.

[–] buh@hexbear.net 65 points 3 months ago

Clearly she’s only accepting gifts from PSL voters

Fucking Goldfish people, they were OUTRAGED when AOC did her photoshoot at the the DANG CHEETO border cages and then didn't give a fuck afterwards, now the camps haven't even been built yet?

[–] edge@hexbear.net 41 points 3 months ago

Clearly she’ll only be accepting presents from Stein and de la Cruz voters.

Biden increased their funding and was harder on border control than pretty much everyone before him, BUT THAT IS ALL NEGATED BECAUSE CHEETO WORSE

BECAUSE CHEETO WORSE

Trump is such a weather vane that this statement literally means nothing until it actually happens. Biden actually did it. Trump just talks shit. Trump talks about a lot of different shit. Remember how he was supposed to build a wall? Remember how Harris gloated about how the Biden admin had to actually build that wall in some areas?

Trumps incompetency is literally the biggest reason that people shouldn't forgive Democrats from taking on his positions. They actually did these things in a competent way. Trump fumbled the bag. That actually makes him better on these points.

Trump said he would make Europe pay for NATO. Biden got it done

[–] miz@hexbear.net 13 points 3 months ago

talked about

damn imagine if they were actually genociding people instead of talking about it

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 70 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Frankly it's odd that somebody who'd be so bothered by this this is only starting to care now. I have chud relatives that I refuse to talk to but it's been that way for years at this point. Like if I was married to a Trump supporter I'd have gotten a divorce before 2016 lol.

It really makes you wonder what kind of things these people talked about and enjoyed doing together before the election.

Some people get off on the drama of it, like this writer seems to. The husband, if we are to judge by the story, is used to her throwing a tantrum and then cooling off, which will likely be the case here again. His entire demeanour which she describes throughout the text is just waiting for her to calm down like she is a sulking child, which she sees as deep empathy. The only concession he made was not forcing her to go to the Christmas celebration (for now), bringing her a cup of coffee and saying sorry (while not doing the actual thing she asked).

I have seen more robust and convincing compassion from sociopaths who knew I knew they were sociopaths who knew I knew they hated me.

Reasonable move to avoid an unpeaceful thanksgiving argument over whether to genocide 99% or 100% of Palestinians.

a party that has talked about building internment camps and mass deportation.

She voted for a party that just does those things, but doesn't talk about them

[–] miz@hexbear.net 49 points 3 months ago (1 children)

she cares more about a vote than the genocide currently being livestreamed

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago

The fact she quotes a line from Kamala's concession speech means she's the kind of lib that doesn't actually care.

Can you imagine in a race between Mengele and Hitler to have someone quote some pithy line from Mengele's concession speech? It doesn't exactly reflect someone who believes they're voting for a lesser evil.

I just don’t understand how people are in relationships where you have such fundamentally incompatible worldviews. Why be with someone who sees the world through a lens of bigotry and hate when you yourself claim not to be bigoted? Why be with a reactionary if you despise reactionaries? I can’t make it make sense, couldn’t be me

Later that night, I briefly glanced at my husband and found myself not wanting to look into the eyes I love. I hated this divide. I wanted to touch his forearms and feel our connection, but I also felt an urge to punish him and deny him my touch.

America is a living sitcom. Wtf is this?

[–] cheers_queers@lemm.ee 18 points 3 months ago (3 children)

sitcom implies that it's bright and fun. it's more like a horror anthology. at least if you live here lol

[–] HelluvaBottomCarter@hexbear.net 30 points 3 months ago

I guess this is in line with the fantasy that the massive bloc of battered-wife voters would swing the election by secretly voting Kamala. Now the next 4 years is gonna be worthless articles about how their maga relatives are so sad the author wont spend time with them.

Americans really need to embrace Canadian Thanksgiving. Middle of October. It kicks off haloween time, it's not right after your elections. It would save lives.

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Typically when the actual harvest happens too, all the produce is ready.

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 12 points 3 months ago

I've never had a good Thanksgiving since my dad died.
