maybe you just have to face that "winner takes it all" isn't democracy at all and millions of people voting for someone they don't know isn't democracy either.
seems to me that maybe both happened at the same time here and what trump said about dictatorship maybe already was the case for "some" time anyway.
There are countries in the world that really do democracy btw. and imo they do very much better in literally all aspects.
