Man really bought a 6.2 million dollar banana for 10 minutes of attention.

What's the most desperate 'person looking for fame' story you've heard?

I would pay negative 6.2 million dollars to eat a banana at a press conference.

Understandable.

But what if it was a slightly above average banana?

[–] superduperpirate@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

For a slightly above average banana, I’d pay negative 6.1 million dollars.

[–] tetris11@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 months ago

That is the price that I would pay for it!

Well, he didn't even buy the original (I guess it has spoiled by then), but a DIY replica and a certificate.

I’ve read that he bought the right to tape a banana to a wall. If I tape a banana to a wall can he sue me?

Anyone can sue anyone for anything, for any amount of money. He could sue you for not doing it.

I would pay $5 to not eat a banana at a press conference.

It’s one banana how much could it cost Michael?

[–] kambusha@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

There's always money in the banana stand.

A lot of politicians come to mind, but the "Kid Rock shooting a bunch of beer" was a good one.

I’m OOTL. What’s the context on this one?

Thanks! Also wow, okay. Some people are too rich.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Like the artist who made millions for taping a banana to a wall.

[–] RozhkiNozhki@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I've seen an article yesterday about the fruit stand seller who sold this banana to him for 50 cents or so, and was shocked to find out how much this art costs.

[–] communism@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 months ago

Not their fault that other people are willing to pay millions for a banana stuck to a wall. If you can make money that way why not?

I really thought it was just a rich person meming but apparently he took it seriously
