I feel safer already, knowing that the cops have taken a bong off the streets 😂

I just love that it's called 'wanding' and that was the main reason for posting. I wonder how many folks will be able to resist calling a cop with a wand a character from Harry Potter. It would make sense to call them Harry seeing as he is a cop in the follow up book.

Stop-and-frisk was intolerable bullshit when NYC did it. Please stop repeating America's mistakes.

What is wrong with knife in last photo? It looks like pretty much standard folding knife for me.

What's wrong is that too much of our society is developing a moral panic about carrying knives. It doesn't help that the knife in question is black with an angular design and therefore scary looking to the pearl-clutchers despite being something that appears to be an reasonable everyday carry.

The article says they were searching people at Central, which isn't even an unreasonable place to have a pocketknife on you. I've carried my pocketknives through Central plenty of times without even considering not bringing them.

You aren’t allowed to carry a knife above a certain length without a valid reason.

I’ve carried much larger knives without any issue because I had a valid reason. Even a machete is fine if you’re actually using it for its intended purpose.

Any ideas what length is legal? I guess majority of knifes in my kitchen are longer than that.

10cm or less, in WA

This is probably a much better source of info, but from what I can see length isn’t a consideration.

For some reason I thought it was 7.5cm but length isn’t mentioned here at all. Still having a valid reason means the majority of knives are fine, exceptions being something like a stilleto knife which has no valid use in peace time.
