  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers – "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
  • Blade: Gillette Minora (2)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber - Soap
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Santa Noir - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

Ghost Town Barber is really nice sometimes. It's relatively generic in that it's very similar to other barbershop scents, but Ron claims it's not a pre blend.

I sort of successfully used my SOTD spreadsheet on my phone using Collabora through NextCloud. If you don't know what that means, I don't blame you. I struggled with the drop-down menus a bit, but not as much as I have in the past. Maybe with practice it'll become faster, as it already has.

That’s pretty sweet. Have you fully transitioned to Collabora, or do you still have ties to other cloud office tech services?

[-] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 4 days ago

I don't use anything like that for work, so it's just personal spreadsheets. I've only transitioned my shaving spreadsheet so far while I get a feel for stability and different ways of doing spreadsheet things. Over time I'll transition some of my other sheets but for now I still use Google Drive.

I still think it’s very cool that you’re starting to have your own separate ecosystem.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I am amazed at how good a straight shave feels compared with a DE shave. I have used DE razors for the last three days. You would think that the maneuverablility of the DE would provide the closer shave because you can get to difficult areas. But I have solved that with a straight. I can get the edge everywhere I want at angles that can cut beard cleanly. The post-shave feel from a straight is just so much better. I have no idea why.

This Bismarck is one of my goto razors. The round point removes all the drama associated with pointy razors and this edge (Arkansas with Koma nagura slurry) is pure joy.

I went full barbershop today, including the talc. Great way to start a Sunday!

  • Brush: Zenith B8 (XL aluminium handle, 28 mm × 57 mm boar)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 17 (NOS, 7/8", hollow ground, stainless steel)
  • Lather: Abbate Y La Mantia – Koké
  • Post Shave: Abbate Y La Mantia – Koké
  • Fragrance: House of Mammoth / Noble Otter / Declaration Grooming – Cerberus

Koké and Cerberus are a great pairing as always and the big 17 is one of my favourite razors.

I would not have thought this until I tried it, but Cerberus pairs well with a large variety of scents. I don’t own one myself, but I have tried VW’s 17. I think I like it better than the Friodur 14. It has everything the 14 has with a slight bit more delicacy of feel. (Obviously IMO)

In the 14 vs 17 question, I think I still lean 14. It has more of that feather feeling, but the heft of the 17 is definitely wonderful.
